About

  New Yorker and Los Angeles-based Designer Ariel Jean has spent her life making things.

 I come from a family of artists, for my mom if we couldn’t buy it we could make it. My mother has a background in clothing construction and has spent years studying couture techniques. She passed down her love of vintage and true garment craftsmanship. I spent my childhood using those skills to develop my own creations. I remember spending after-school hours in the cozy South Street Seaport apartment of my knitting instructor. My Russian native teacher spoke little English but we understood each other through our needles. I never imagined that knitting would be my introduction to my life long love of design.
